CAE Writing Assessment Scale
Examiners mark your writing on 4 criteria. Each criterion is marked on a scale of 0-5 (0 being the worst and 5 the best). Here is a summary of the 4 writing marking criteria:
Content: is all your content relevant and is the target reader fully informed?
Communicative Achievement: is it easy to understand your writing? Are your arguments expressed clearly?
Organisation: how well is your overall writing structured? How well is it structured on an individual paragraph level? Are your arguments developed and do your points link together well?
Language: do you show a range of grammar structures and vocabulary? Are there many language related errors?
